This website chronicles a racketeering suit filed on October 30, 2013 in Colorado Federal District Court styled Goodwin v. Bruggeman-Hatch et al (Case No. 13-CV-02973) regarding the theft of assets belonging to Barra Partners, LLC (“Barra”), a merchant bank, and the extortion, intimidation and retaliation against the firm’s founder, Jon Goodwin, by the primary defendants Seamus Hatch, Mike Bock and Marcia Hatch nee Bruggeman, an attorney then with Defendant Venture Law Group and Defendant Heller Ehrman LLP who is currently a “Partner” with Defendant Gunderson Dettmer and their co-conspirators.
The genesis of the conflict was Goodwin’s unwillingness to go along with a scheme to launder illicit funds of an alleged drug distribution ring using Barra Partners and affiliated overseas companies it controlled. In order to conceal their relationship with the drug traffickers, Bock, Bruggeman-Hatch and Hatch (the Aran Racketeers) stole files belonging to Goodwin and proceeded to use them and violent threats to extort his silence and acquiescence to their stealing the assets of Barra Partners.
Contemporaneous with their EXTORTION of Goodwin, Seamus Hatch and Mike Bock formed new limited liability company(s) using the name “Aran” (Airan? or Aryan?) transferring Barra Partners’ assets into them. Bruggeman-Hatch, who was living with Seamus Hatch at the time, assisted with naming the “Aran” entities. Bruggeman-Hatch even went to the length of contacting the counsel to one of Goodwin clients, a business colleague of Goodwin, to harm Goodwin’s valuable relationship with him and the client.
Goodwin isn’t the only victim of the Aran Racketeers, there are many others.
In order to create the illusion that the “Aran” entities were a burgeoning merchant banking firm, Bock and Hatch stole the identities of several individuals and published them on their companies websites, representing that they were part of the “Aran Team” and operated email accounts under these individuals’ names to impersonate them. One individual, Glenn M. Watson recounted the nightmare of their theft of his identity in a sworn declaration. Read: [May 1, 2013 Declaration of Glenn M. Watson]
Defendant Twitter enters the picture in 2011 when Marcia Hatch fraudulently alleged that Goodwin used the service to send a tweet threatening to shoot her law firm (@GundersonLaw) with a .50 caliber rifle. But the tweet was bogus and Marcia Hatch and Gunderson Dettmer left off the true name of the publisher and the date it was published in order to frame and threaten him, the objective being to extort his acquiescence to a perjuriously procured injunction they obtained by lying to Hon. Zaven V. Sinanian, a Los Angeles judge with the California Superior Court.
Goodwin alleges that Twitter and Gunderson Dettmer accomplished the manufacturing of the bogus .50 Cal Tweet by either altering a Tweet in the MySQL database records associated with the @EvilEsq Twitter account, inserting a backdated Tweet in his account or by causing another user to publish a fraudulent Tweet.
Goodwin is certain that Twitter and Gunderson Dettmer are working together to try to frame him and as evidence of their confederation cites the following facts:
- Gunderson Dettmer represents several of Twitter’s venture capital investors, the principals of which have sat or are sitting on Twitter’s board of directors;
- Gunderson Dettmer attorneys have direct ties to Twitter executives and key employees capable of altering information in his (and other users’) accounts;
- Twitter’s refusal to notify him regarding subpoenas issued for information related to his Twitter accounts as they routinely do for other users; and
- Twitter refused to identify the real sender of the bogus tweet and confirm that the Tweet was not sent from his accounts.
Several of Twitter’s venture capital investors represented by Gunderson Dettmer (there are others) who’ve sat on or been affiliated with Twitter’s board of directors.
|Gunderson Dettmer Client||Principal||Dates on Twitter’s Board|
|Benchmark Capital||Peter Fenton||02/2009 to Current|
|Kleiner Perkins||John Doerr (Observer)||12/2010 to 09/2011|
|Spark Capital||Bijan Sabat||2009 to 09/2011|
|Union Square Ventures||Fred Wilson||2007 to 09/2011|
The foregoing is elucidated in Goodwin’s response to a motion to the court:
The EvilEsq’s EvilEsqs
Lawyers will say anything if they think it will advance their extracting more money from their clients err their “client’s interests.” This case is no exception. Defendants Bruggeman-Hatch’s and Seamus Hatch’s lawyer, Alex Myer whose real name is “Mark” (guess “Alex” is his vanity lawyer name because it sounds more imperious) accused Goodwin of having two ex-wives and suing both of them in this litigation. Read: Goodwin’s response to “Alex’s” nonsense.
Well folks, Alex Myer is at it again. With the informed consent of Lewis Rocca Rothgerber and Frederick Baumann, Esq, Alex has engaged in furthering his clients’ fraudulent acts and now apparently their crimes as well. A response to their conduct was just emailed to all of the parties and is available here: Goodwin’s Response to Alex Myer’s and Frederick Baumann’s further threats..
